THE AZUSA STREET REVIVAL: PROPHECY SPOKEN IN 1906

It is often important to look back into history to help us correct the now and the future. This prophecy came up ninety-three years ago and alas it is being fulfilled before our eyes. We have published this again to help you know what would occur in these last days and to align yourself with God to avoid it. Because it is, does not mean it has to be. Though it was prophesied it must not be fulfilled on you. Knowledge is power. “In the last days, three things will befall   the greatest Pentecostal movement.”

1.           There will be an overemphasis on power rather than righteousness

Is it not true, that today we hear so much about power, dominion and authority, while so little is mentioned about the need to live a holy life? Practical holiness is a bye gone topic in our churches and fellowships. Solomon tells us, “There is time to weep, and a time to laugh, . . .” (Ecc. 3:7), but there is no time, no not a day, in which a man ought not to be holy. The Bible says, “Without holiness no man shall see the Lord” (Heb. 12:14). Why the emphasis on power to bulldoze demons, to over throw kingdoms and to live in prosperity when we are not prepared to live a holy life? Friend, “Except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the Scribe and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the Kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 5:20). The call of God to all of us in the end time is to be perfect. “Be ye perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” (Matt. 5:44). This is indeed the will of God, even your sanctification. To have power through Christ to overcome evil is good, but you must live a holy life to operate in effective power and dominion

2.           There will be an overemphasis on praise to a God they no longer pray to

Jesus said, “It is written, my house shall be called a house of prayer . . .” but it is sad today that we’ve made our churches a place of praise worship as a substitute to prayer. We conduct praise worship as a substitute to prayer. Jesus said, “It is written, my house shall be called a house of prayer . . .” We hold praise worship services monthly, but see no need to pray. We have imported every kind of worldly music into the Church and still say it doesn’t matter. Our emphasizes must be balanced – praise and pray.

3.           There will be an overemphasis on the gifts of the Spirit, rather than the Lordship of Christ.

So many preachers of the Word have been disqualified by God because they are taking the glory which belongs to God alone to themselves. The desire to operate in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, by many Pentecostal preachers have been only to raise a kingdom around themselves and to make money and fame. Thank God that over 93 years ago, He gave us this prophecy to guide us today.  Jesus must be Lord in your life in every area. As you live in the supernatural realm daily, give God His due glory and honour in all matters of life. He is the sole determinant of the issues of life and to share His glory is deadly.
