Diligence is the zealous and
careful commitment to Work (Part 3)
“The smell of the
sweat is not sweet, but the fruit of the sweat is very sweet.”
– Amit Kalantri
Diligence appreciates hard work and sacrifice. How you approach work
speaks a lot about who you are. Do you have a strong work ethic, budget your
time, keep track of your activities to avoid being lazy, and devote 100% of
your attention to your task? CEOs and company managers, as well as other
leaders, emphasize the importance of the quality of diligence in ensuring
optimum results in their workplaces. God is a laborer in his own right. He made
the world and everything in it in six days and then rested on the seventh. In
general, zeal refers to a strong desire to achieve or gain a goal. Do you have
a burning desire to do the task you've been assigned? It makes no difference
what kind of work you do as long as you agree to participate. If you're doing
ministry work, give it your all. Do it as if you were doing it for the Lord.
"Achievement is not possible in the
absence of zeal," Kishore Bansal stated, and I agree.
"And
whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do all in the name of Jesus, giving
thanks to God the Father through him" (Col. 3:17).
"The
sluggard's spirit yearns for and receives nothing, whereas the diligent's soul
is abundantly filled" (Prov. 13:4).
"There
is profit in every labor, but mere chatter leads to poverty" (Prov.
14:23).
Diligence is defined by the Vines Hebrew/Greek Dictionary as "working" that is suggestive
of a process. For example, in business, profit is earned via hard labor,
effort, pain, earnestness, and zeal. To rush through something (rather than
postponing or deferring it); to pay close attention to a task."
"Zeal
will do more than knowledge." — Hazlitt, William
A diligent person should be a model of virtue at all times. "Strive forward with diligence,"
was one of Budha's last remarks. As a result, all Buddhist teachings have a
component of diligence. A work ethic is defined as a notion that effort is
beneficial in and of itself. Applying the virtue of diligence to your daily
activities will help you live a better life. Every man's prosperity depends on
his diligence. It's not only a question of work; it's also a question of heart.
You succeed in life not because of your greatness, but because you nurture and
value your dreams on a daily basis. I can tell you that perseverance can
transform your life. The Bible says, “The
diligent hands will RULE, but laziness will end in the slave labour” (Prov.
12:24 NIV).
“The
hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute”
(Prov. 12:24 KJV).
“Hard
work will give you power; being lazy will make you a slave” (Prov. 12:24 GNT).
And, once again, this is precisely correct. We've all been summoned
to some sort of "job," and
we must all conduct ourselves appropriately. We must behave ourselves with
energy and care in order to deliver outcomes in the life assignment we have
properly defined. The hands who work diligently will RULE.
